‘The Artistic Mother : A Practical Guide to Fitting Creativity into your Busy Life’ was written for women who are interested in doing art while they grapple with the day to day issues of being a Mom.

I truly believe that a content, fulfilled, happy mom = happy kids.

This book was written with that in mind and to encourage mothers who are artistically inclined to engage in some art form in order to be that content, fulfilled, happy person.

To decide if you are an Artistic Mother, consider these few questions:

* Are you a mother or grandmother who has always loved the arts - both viewing and doing arty things?
* Do you lead or want to lead a life filled with art and art making of any kind?
* Do you do or desire to do arts and crafts both with and alongside your children?
* Would you like to inspire your own kids or grandkids, through your example, to love and pursue the arts?
* Do you want to add a little art to your already full and busy life?

Yes? Then you are an Artistic Mother and this book is for you.

You may not be doing much by way of creativity right now, but if you desire to do a little, something, anything that colors your days and expresses who you are to the world around you. You may need a little inspiration, a little information to get you going.

In ‘The Artistic Mother’ the focus on the visual arts, but the principles of this book will apply to those who are dancers, musicians or engaged in other the arts.

The book is divided into 3 main sections:

Firstly, there is a discussion of why it is important for artistically inclined mothers to do art, followed by a short chapters on the nature of creativity, finding the time and motivation to do art and organizing your life so that you can fit art into it.

Secondly, there are some chapters introducing you to the basics skills in collage, photography and poetry writing.

Thirdly, there is a 12 week workshop that guides you through making family focused art. Each week has an action plan to help you prepare for later weeks and meet the goals of that week’s art making.

Peppered through out the book are interviews with seven moms who are living the artistic mother lifestyle, be prepared to be inspired!
