Family Focused Collage
and Scrapbooking

Many collage artists use their talents to create family focused collage and scrapbooks.

There are many things that you can focus out art on. Revelations of nature, our character, the world, interpersonal relations, romance. All good stuff.

Family Focused Art But what about your children and your family?

As a mother of children still at home, or even a grandparent, these are the days that they are closest to you. These are the days that they are around and open and honest, showing you their budding personalities and dreams.

Now is the time to capture that essence, while it is fresh and happening.

Now is the time to focus our artistic vision on your little people.

Now is the time for photographing your children, recording in poetic language the details of who they are, who they are becoming. Scrapbook page Now is the time do make mixed media collage projects with their images.

And, now is also the time to make art for your children: You can make them storybooks, poems, beautiful photographs, stuffed toys, mixed media interactive toys, artful garden play spaces.

Finally, now is the time to do art with and alongside your children, teaching them, guiding them, inspiring them. These are invaluable days for your relationship.

A family collage is centered or focused on the family or children and expresses our deepest desires, our understanding and love for them.

What a precious way to show that we care.

Why not take some photos of your children, print them out and include them in your collage art? There are no images that will mean that much to you when you reflect back on the art that you have made.

Check out this book by a friend of mine, Corey Moortgat, entitled The Art of Personal Imagery for a great overview of creating family focused Collages.

Scrapbooking is another form of family focused collage.

Scrapbook page Scrapbooking, traditionally focused on preserving personal and family history, has evolved into a verifiable art form. Scrapbookers use many of the same supplies that collage artists use, like rubber stamps, decorated papers, personal images, words and so on.

My favorite place to find scrapbooking project ideas and the latest tools is Scrabooking.com. What I like about this site is the variety of projects and that many are family focused altered art and collage art projects.
