Mixed Media Collage
Mixed media collage is artwork where more than one medium has been used in it's creation. For example: In a water-color painting, in general, the artist uses traditional watercolor paints on some kind of watercolor paper. It becomes mixed media if they then glue down an image of a bird or write on the surface or add a rubber stamped image.
In creating this kind of collage you can use many different surfaces as a base (or substrates) and build up layers and layers with easy to get or buy
supplies:
Such as rubber stamps, glue, photographs, all kinds of paper: drawings, kids artwork, painted surfaces, wall paper, newspaper, old books, junk mail, candy wrappers, scrapbook paper, printed images; all kinds of color tools: pen, pencil, acrylic paint, inks, crayons; found objects, beads, wire, fabric, cardboard.... anything really!
The sky is the limit! Look around your home, your purse, your garage, in junk mail catalogues for things to include in your mixed media collage.
