What is Collage?
Collage is, in the broadest sense, a work made by gluing materials such as paper scraps, photographs, and fibers on to some kind of art surface. In fact the word Collage comes the French word for glue which is coller. It is the focus on gluing that makes collage such an accessible art form for someone wanting to do something creative but who feels they can not draw or even paint well! You can create a
wide range of art pieces
with meaningful images without ever lifting a pencil or studying fine art!
But there are some art principles you will need to be familiar with if you are going to produce art that is not only an expression of you but also appeals to the visual senses. You can find discussions of these in the
'How to collage'
section of this website. There I cover things such as composition, color choice, basic photography, photo altering, writing poetry.
Here are some of the kinds of things that you can do in the world of collage art, click on each to see a brief description and examples:

Browsing the galleries of artists can get your creative mind working. You may see something that makes you think -I want to do that too!-
In order for you to make anything you will need some basic
